Fund Top Surgery

I am a 32 year old trans man. I have been out since about 2015, but the idea of transitioning always seemed out of reach for a number of reasons. I was born and raised in Texas, but moved to Iowa to be with my now partner who is also trans. It wasnt until just under two years ago that we were finally able to start HRT after the trauma of being turned away the first time and told to just “lose weight.” Now, I finally took the dive to look into top surgery. I have clearance from my insurance and a date for May 7th! Its all certainly exciting, especially with the looming threat of our rights being revoked in this state later this year.

However, I am the sole income in our household at this time. I make enough to support us both comfortably, but the added medical bills will likely put a considerable strain on our finances. I do not want to deny myself this surgery any longer out of fear of not being able to afford it. I want to be able to afford to grant my partner the same luxury of his own top surgery before the year is up in order to take advantage of what I will have to pay in order to meet the insurance deductible and out of pocket maximum.

Please help make this decade long dream become a reality. It will help being stuck in this state for another year more bearable and help keep us just a little bit safer.

I plan to post an actual total once I receive my bill for more accurate fundraising, but this is the amount I am anticipating based on what I was told by the surgeon’s financial office.
