A Nurse in Need

Our amazing colleague and brilliant Registered Nurse Steph needs your help.

Steph was going about her everyday life, enjoying a work out at the gym, when she noticed some pain and colour changed in her right leg. She then spent over 24 hours in emergency with little treatment given.

Thanks to some of her brilliant colleagues she was transferred to Geelong and underwent an urgent triple embolectomy after suffering severe compartment syndrome. Whilst relieved that she didn’t lose her leg, investigations took place to find out why she had developed this type of clot in the first place. It was then discovered she had a cardiac Myxoma. Within 24 hours she was back in the operating theatre on cardiac bypass having open heart surgery.

48 hours after this procedure, whilst recovering in the ICU, Steph developed a bleed in the spleen. She was rushed back for a third surgical procedure.

Steph was married to the love of her life, Vinnie, late 2022 and has just began her life.
