Elijah’s fight

   Our son, Elijah was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor in December of 2019. Our world was completely changed that day and our baby boy went through 10 rounds of chemotherapy, 4 stem cell transplants as well as 15 hospital admissions, many surgeries and a 30 rounds of proton radiation. Life has thrown us in the valley but the Lord has been faithful to be with us there. God has provided in amazing ways, despite the tears, sleepless nights and heartbreak. Elijah completed his treatment in July and was on the rebound! We finally got to enjoy seeing family, playing outside, bubble baths and going to fun places! Just as life started to slip back into normal, his 6 month surveillance MRI presented devastating news. His cancer was back in 4 more places throughout Elijah’s brain. Our hearts sank and our hope of our fight being behind us was shattered. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, a new fight grew inside us. We were led to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. This required us to drop everything and move immediately to Columbus for 4 months for more chemotherapy, this time including delivering medicine directly into his brain through a port followed by another stem cell transplant and now proton radiation to our baby's whole brain and spine (with the possibility of more chemo after that). We are in another huge storm, but we are guided by a great captain! We are so blessed to have help from friends, family and so many loved ones as there is no way to pause the financial burden this will brings (car insurance, rent here, rent there, medical bills, groceries, travel expenses, etc) especially after Marshall's job let him go in April.
