Aviary Fundraiser
Hi there!
My name is Michelle Anderson and I am a volunteer wildlife rehabilitator specializing in birds with the Upper Peninsula
Wildlife Rehabilitation-Keweenaw
Group. I am currently sub permitted to
rehab migratory birds through Chocolay Raptor Center in Marquette but will be
seeking my own state and federal
permits for migratory bird rehabilitation and will be building the aviary on my
property.
Our group currently has one aviary that has awarded the care and release of many songbirds back to the wild but we are
growing and often times birds have to
wait longer than they should for their
turn in the aviary. We’d also like to be
able to rehab larger bird species so we
have a critical need for a second and
larger aviary.
The aviary will be constructed of
durable wood, hardware cloth and
screened on the inside to withstand our winters as well as being predator proof
and gentle for birds feathers on the
inside. We have selected a site (pictured below along with our other aviary
construction pictures to give an idea of
what we will be building) and would like
to get started ASAP! UPWR is a 501c3
nonprofit organization. We annually care for many birds and mammals
each season. We do not receive any
state or federal funding so community
support is essential to continuing our mission to care for local wildlife in need
Thanks so much for your consideration
and helping us provide quality rehabilitation to our wildlife patients!
