Hi everyone,
My name is Kaitlyn Nguyen and I am a Team USA Senior figure skater and the 2017 Junior National Champion. Figure skating was introduced to me when I was a toddler by my two older sisters. When I was six, I moved to Colorado Springs with my mom and my sister in hopes to pursue my dreams. My dad had to stay behind to work in order to pay and support my skating. At a certain point during that time, I stopped improving, so to find a coach who can support and meet the demands of skating at a relatively higher level, my mom and I decided to move to California. My dad lives over 18 hours apart so I get to see him only twice a year, usually Christmas and summer.
My family is making a lot of financial sacrifices in order for me to reach my goals, and any assistance that I could be given would continue to help make my skating dreams come true. As you can see, with skating lessons, choreography lessons, ice time, coaching fees, competition fees, traveling expenses, costumes, ballet classes, strength training, and 3 households to support, financially my parents have exhausted all of our resources. I'm seeking your assistance in continuing to provide the necessary lessons for me to progress in my sport. This year, I debut as a Senior lady and will compete in the 2018 National Championships as the youngest competitor. This year I was selected to go to the 3 international competitions, 2 of which were Junior Grand Prixs. I placed 1st at the Netherlands, and 5th at both Brisbane, Australia and Zagreb, Croatia. My ultimate skating goal is to go to the 2022 Olympics, and my short term goal is to land a triple axel and a quad. Please help me realize my dreams and validate everything I have given up to pursue them. Thank you for your support!
