Justice for Jade Abrantes

My father and sister were involved in a car accident on Friday, November 15, 2019, in Rancho Cucamonga, California. She was going to visit me in San Francisco for the weekend, but she never got on that flight. She was so excited to see me since I had not seen her since August when I left for law school. My father is currently in the hospital with a severe concussion, broken ribs, and a fractured lower spine. It will take him a while to fully recover.

My sister, Jade, was only twenty years old. She was currently attending school and working two jobs. She was always such a hard worker. She had just submitted her applications to transfer to a four year college next fall. She always put herself before anyone else. Jade was a fighter.

Jade did not deserve this. My family did not deserve this. No parent should ever have to outlive their children. Instead of planning for the holidays, we now have to make arrangements for our sweet Jade.

As heartbreaking as it is, I do not want us to remember Jade this way. Jade deserves to be remembered as the fighter she was who had a promising future before her.

We love you Jade.
