Perkins-Sledge Burial Fund

Donation protected
King Bo Sledge & Diamond Bernice Sledge, twin babies of Dowd Sledge and Adrian Perkins-Sledge, died on the day they were born, Aug 29, 2015.

My heart aches for them as a mother (I have three healthy, growing children) and as a teacher (at Menlo-Atherton High School). You see, I've known Adrian since she was just 13 years old. I watched her struggle through poverty, homelessness and family drug addiction. I marveld at her strength as she graduated, went on to college and then returned to work and mentor in her community. Dowd & Adrian grew up in East Palo Alto & East Menlo. They fell in love, married and are ready to begin a family. Unfortunately, the twins just weren't ready.  King passed away about 30 minutes after birth while his sister, Diamond, fought hard for 8 hours before passing. At just 1 pound, the odds were just too great.

As the family mourns, they learned it would take $6,000 to give King and Diamond a proper burial. The hospital has been gratious, but this number is daunting.

Adrian is resiliant - as I've seen so many times before. Her positive attitude, integrity and compassion improve the lives of our students (and staff) every day. We can't bring the babies back or make the family whole, but we can help ease this financial burdon while their hearts mend.

Anything you can do is appreciated.
Sincerly,
Jenna Carson
