Kylies Campaign for Breast Cancer Surgery

 

River Angels have been able to support Kylie and her beautiful family while she has been getting treatment and following surgery. However Kylie now needs further surgery and this is not something River Angels can help with. Please read Kylies story below and if you have the means to do so , please donate. Every little bit helps and means Kylie is one step closer to getting her surgery.

 

I’ve been working part time at Mirrambeena nursing home for 6 years, dedicated to looking after the elderly in our community. I have been nursing for over 25. My grandma died of breast cancer when I was 4 years old. One day I found a lump and then began my road through chemotherapy and surgery removing my left breast. Causing me to be unable to work for 6 months.

 

Due to my cancer being triple negative this is the most aggressive form of breast cancer with no hormonal treatment to prevent its return. To reduce the chances of it returning I am wanting to have the right breast removed also and then reconstructive surgery. That is what the money is for. Due to the reduction in category 3 surgery at present I could be on the waiting list for years. I have private cover however even with that, the cost is over $20,000 out of pocket. Mentally I am having difficulty coping with this. I have 2 daughters 12 and 16 years old. I want to feel whole again and try to put this behind me.
