12 year old, Levi, and his family

Donation protected
Nearly 6 weeks ago, 12 year old Levi Presland was in a horrible accident at home where his polyester jumper caught fire. He suffered full thickness burns to his torso and underarms, and minor burns to his face and hand when he removed the jumper.

Levi was very lucky to have some quick thinking family nearby, and both on- and off-duty paramedics arrived within minutes. He was air lifted to RCH and landed two hours from the incident (which is usually a 3 hour drive). That night he underwent a 5 hour surgery, with another later that week.

While Levi is now safe, the road to recovery is slow. Tomorrow marks his 7th surgery since his arrival, in the lead up to possibly two graft surgeries. There will be further time at the children's after the graft(s). Levi's spirits are high and the family is receiving extraordinary care at RCH.

In the mean time, his parents, Mark & Amie, are taking turns to stay in hospital with Levi - impacting their ability to work and putting strain on their finances.

It's particularly tough after riding the challenges of small business ownership throughout covid in Melbourne. They closed their business doors at Christmas 2023 and moved back to the country to be near family support.

Amie's friends have initiated this fundraiser to ease the strain. We recognise that it is a challenging time for many at the moment, and our hope that is many small amounts can help to ease the ongoing strain on Levi and his family.
