Please help us bury our Father

Donation protected
On April 12 2020 our father ascended to heaven. If I could describe my father to you I’d tell you he was selfless, witty, determined, and loving. In 2008 my father was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s and this monster soon ate at his brain cells. We met different versions of my dad as he climbed up the steps to stage 7 of this disease. He was once child-like filled with giggles, he loved dancing, he then became aggressive when he was confused and scared, and lastly he became silent and reserved. The pain would never go, we had to mourn each one of his personalities as they changed rapidly.

My father was kind, he was honest, he was funny and he loved his family with all his heart. When my dad was first diagnosed and my mother cried telling him she didn't want him to lose his mind, that she wanted him to be like he was before. He said,  "Eso ya no puede ser, lo unico que te pido es que me cuides a mis niñas".  His last wish to her was to take care of his daughters.

We now mourn the loss of our father but we've missed him for some time now. He stopped talking 4 years ago and the only way we could hear his voice was through old videos. He stopped walking 2 years ago, and as months went by things progressively got worse. This disease robbed us of our father long before his passing, but we tried our hardest to keep his memory alive.

My dad taught me patience, he taught me what sacrifice was, he taught me how to love someone more than you love yourself, but lastly he taught me that family always comes first. We feel shattered, we feel broken, and we feel weak. But, the last month of my fathers life was very hard. He was suffering and stuck in his own body. We are grateful he can finally feel some peace. I share this with you so you too can find peace knowing he is no longer suffering.

Given the crazy world we live in right now, it's been a tough week for us. We are having to wait two weeks before we're able to bury our father and the services being offered are restricted so we aren't allowed to all gather as a family. Nonetheless, I want us to be able to give him the resting place he deserves. I visited cemetery plots yesterday and found a section where I felt immediate peace. The area was tranquil and silent, the sun was shining down right on this section and I felt it was confirmation that he wanted it to be his forever resting spot.

I hope we are able to give this to him and that is why we are asking for any help you can give.

We miss you, we love you, and we hope you're happy now that you're reunited with your father.

Rest in Peace Papito.
Te quiero, todo.
