Honor Robert Allen: Assist with Final Expenses
Donation protected
Robert N. Allen, 71, is currently in hospice with stage four colon and prostate cancer. Robert’s life is truly defined by all of his experiences and passions. His previous occupations include, but are not limited to, serving as a Vietnam era veteran for 4 years as a sergeant and aircraft maintenance specialist in Okinawa and Guam, as well as a wiring inspector/technician at Gerber Scientific, and an information system administrator/engineer at Fox 61. During his time at Fox, Robert was known for broadcasting the Manchester road race for 10+ years until he retired.
With a passion for computers, robotics, engineering, and flying, Robert has always been interested in all things technical. Although he aspired to become a pilot, he still has many accomplishments he is proud of such as introductory classes for a Cessna and experimental ultralight. He has also completed the Vernon to Vernon cycling route as a charity run with the trek stretching from Vernon, Vermont to Vernon, Connecticut and spanning 80 miles. Robert also finds joy in sharing the many stories he has from being stationed in Okinawa and Guam, his childhood, and from his many careers. He takes pride in the creations he 3D prints and laser engraves via CNC machine. Being the generous, kind soul he is, he takes tremendous joy from giving out his creations to loved ones. Robert has always brought so much happiness to the people around him with his ability to make people laugh and his incredibly bright and hopeful spirit. Because of all he’s done for the people around him, our family wishes to be able to do our part and finally give back to him.
Unfortunately, finances have been tight after Robert’s savings were depleted due to countless rounds of chemo and radiation, and is now left with nothing for cremation, funeral expenses, or remaining debts such as sewer, car, and lake taxes. Lydia Allen, his sister, has been supporting his care as a hospice caregiver as he enters into the final stages of life, and will continue to do so despite the lack of income during this time. Moreover, the house he owns still has a mortgage that has not been paid off. After careful consideration, reselling has been deemed the best option. However, in order to even begin this process, the house must be cleaned and numerous dumpsters will be required. At present, this will not be able to happen due to financial barriers. All money that is raised will go towards these various expenses.
Robert fought all his life, whether that be during Vietnam or through cancer; but now it is time for him to rest. We hope to take away some of the financial burdens he will be leaving behind so he can rest easy in his final moments. We thank everyone who chooses to support us in this difficult time.
