Melissa Dawkins-Doumbia's family, friends, and union brothers and sisters call on you to help support her family through this difficult time. Melissa's passing on Novemeber 23, 2015 is a tragic loss to all of us who knew and loved her. In particular we ask you to give now to support her three gorgeous children: Makayla (14), Aiden (6), and Paulie (2).
We are collecting these funds, at Melissa’s mother’s request, for the children’s needs and for their future schooling.
Melissa was a devoted, loving and generous mother, daughter, wife, and friend. She was passionate about helping others and standing up for what's right. As an employee of Yale University she became a union steward and joined the Executive Board of Local #34. She was a fierce advocate for school children in New Haven and deeply involved in hemophilia activism.
Melissa passed unexpectedly from a seizure in her sleep. She leaves behind her husband Abdul, mother Angela, and a loving family including:
*Her daughter Makayla, just elected Vice-President of the Freshman Class at Hillhouse Highschool.
*Her son Aiden, who will have his seventh birthday this Friday, December 4th.
*Her youngest Paulie, whowas diagnosed with hemophilia last year.
Melissa was sharp, open, hilarious, irreverent and incredibly giving. Please celebrate her memory in a manner benefitting her own generous spirit.
