Habitat Culpeper - Home for Elizabeth's Family
Tax deductible
Habitat for Humanity Culpeper needs your help to build a home for Elizabeth and her family.
Our current home is for Elizabeth, a single mother of five (ages 3-16). She and her children are currently living in substandard housing that is too small, and her rent is very high, rising each year. She was homeless until she found her current rental and is fearful of becoming homeless again, due to the lack of affordable housing in Culpeper County. Habitat for Humanity has begun building a home for Elizabeth that will have plenty of space for the family, and our goal is to complete it by Christmas 2023. She is very appreciative for the opportunity to participate in the Habitat process of building her home and is naturally thrilled at the prospect of homeownership to secure her future and her children’s future success in life.
The total construction budget for this project is $249,300. We have raised $150,000 (some through our annual appeal and grants to supplement money previously earned or donated), which will get us to “dry in” stage, meaning completed exterior and totally weatherproofed. Unfortunately, due to increases in construction materials and market conditions, we have a shortfall of about $100,000, mostly in materials and equipment necessary to finish the interior of the house and make it ready for the family. We are raising funds through various means to be able to complete this house so Elizabeth and her family can have a stable home this year.
You can make a difference by donating today to Habitat for Humanity of Culpeper County, Inc. Your donations are tax-deductible. Habitat for Humanity of Culpeper County was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) organization in 1998 with the mission to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. We partner with families to build strength, self-reliance, and stability through affordable homeownership. We are a completely volunteer nonprofit organization, with no staff and minimal overhead costs, so any funds we raise or receive go directly toward our mission of providing safe and affordable homeownership to our local Culpeper families and specifically this home.
Funds received through this GoFundMe are to be classified as restricted funds to be only used on the construction and completion of the house being built by Habitat for Humanity Culpeper County on 760 North Aspen Street, Culpeper, VA 22701 for Elizabeth and her family.
