Chelsie Steinmeyer and Heather Steinmeyer found out on Wednesday their twins were showing signs of Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). TTTS happens when there's an unequal flow of blood to and from identical twins who share a placenta. The twins were struggling. After two days at Childrens Hospital in Minneapolis the girls were challenged with decisions that would change their lives forever. We went from hearing many options available in a normal Twin to Twin to find out that their situation was far from normal. Baby A has already suffered from a brain bleed and congestive heart failure. She was not doing well. Baby B was half the size of Baby A They were both struggling. To make things more complicated Heather was already in labor. The Dr. Told them that with that happening and other complications with Heathers cervix being short and other issues the procedures would complicate matters. A Bittersweet ending. Hadley and Harper were born by Cesarean June 28th at 2:06 pm and 2:07 pm. Hadley Alana took her last breath in Chelsie's arms minutes after she was born. She was the precious one that had the heart problems and brain bleed. She weighed 2 lbs but most of that was fluid. Harper Ann weighs 1 lb and is 11 3/4 long. She is very malnourished but strong. No ventilator. Yay. She Is on very little oxygen. These past two days have been very difficult for the girls and for their families. Please keep Chelsie, Heather, and Harper in your prayers. They still have a long road ahead of them. I am sure that Hadley will help her baby sister from up above fight hard.
