We are walking 2,800 miles across the UnitedStates to raise money for The Night Ministry, a Chicago-based organization that provides housing, health care, and a variety of social services to people who are homeless or struggling with poverty. We chose The Night Ministry because it serves our hometown community of Chicago and was highly recommended by several trusted workers in the field. This journey began as one geared towards personal growth. Along the way, however, we were inspired to attach this cause to our walk after talking to several formerly homeless individuals and hearing about their struggles. We have also been touched by the compassion shown to us by people who have mistaken us as homeless. However, we are aware that many homeless people, especially those in urban areas, are often not treated with this same level of compassion. This further motivates us to support the work that The Night Ministry is doing. We began our trek at the Coney Island Boardwalk in NYC on June 17th. We walk 25 miles per day and plan to arrive in Los Angeles around December 1st.
Contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated! You can also follow our journey through our blog and Instagram page:
