Hail Mary Pass for Guatemala

We are FLAG FOOTBALL players from Guatemala. We have learned and loved this beautiful sport  more and more over the 18 years of  its history in our Country.

TODAY, our sport has given us the opportunity to raise our hand as Guatemalans! It has given us the chance to be heard, to say “We are here”! 
We have learned the values that this sport can teach. For our young players it is a reason to strive and focus positively on higher goals, maybe even to get better opportunities in a society that encourages them to fall into vices and violence.

We have demonstrated to ourselves and to our region that we are capable of achieving great things... Female Central American Champions in 2015, our women´s team became an example and a motivation for many women, in a country that has one of the highest rate of violence against women in the World.

This year we have the opportunity to represent our Country in the Flag Football World Championship, which will be held in Panama from August 8 to 13 of the present year.

Our national teams, both male and female, have been training for this competition for months.  To do so, they have had to practice in mud and stone fields, or pay with their own money the cost of renting the fields, as well as having to travel long distances to get to the training sessions.

Parents who had sacrificed time with their children and family,  young ones have had to study overtime to replenish the time invested in what they are 100% committed, Representing Guatemala in a World Championship.

To succeed in this feat it is necessary to cover the costs of uniforms $ 1,000.00, registrations $3,900.00, lodging and food $ 11,400.00, and air tickets to Panama $ 13,400.00. In order to achieve this, since 2017 a request for support was made to the Guatemalan government institutions, we fulfilled an endless number of requirements requested in the hope of  the  $29,700 USD support necessary for our mission.
However, and after months of follow-up, visits and calls requesting information about our request, last Friday, July 6th (one month before the start of the championship) we were notified that no budget was approved.

YOU ARE OUR LAST HOPE! 
In the football field it would be our last chance and only through a Hail Mary pass we would be able to achieve it, hoping you catch the ball in the End Zone and help us complete our mission.

We are almost there! We are prepared.  We have sacrificed and made our best effort to represent our country with dignity, with our whole heart! We are ready to put Guatemala´s name in the eyes of the whole World. Somos jugadores de football americano y flag football en Guatemala, deporte que hemos ido conociendo y amando cada vez  más a través de 18 años de una corta historia de este deporte en nuestro país.

Hoy en día nuestro deporte se ha convertido en una oportunidad para nosotros de levantar la mano como Guatemaltecos y decir; !Aquí Estamos! de aprender los valores de este deporte y demostrarnos a nosotros mismos que somos capaces de hacer grandes cosas, para nuestros jóvenes, es una razón para esforzarse y enfocarse positivamente en metas y mejores oportunidades de estudio en una sociedad que los incita a caer en vicios y violencia. Nuestras mujeres han demostrado de lo que son capaces, campeonas Centroamericanas 2015, se convierten en un orgullo, un ejemplo y una motivación para muchas mujeres, en un país con un índice de violencia contra la mujer más altos en el mundo. 

Este año tenemos la oportunidad de representar a nuestro país en el Campeonato Mundial de Flag Football, mismo que se celebrará en la Ciudad de Panamá en del 8 a 13 de agosto de este año.

Nuestros equipos nacionales tanto femenino cómo masculino llevan meses preparándose para este campeonato, para hacerlo han tenido que practicar en canchas de lodo y piedras, o pagar con su propio dinero el costo de alquiler de los campos, así mismo tienen que hacer largos recorridos para poder llegar a los entrenamientos, madres y padres sacrifican el tiempo con sus hijos y familia, los más jóvenes estudiar horas extras para reponer el tiempo invertido en un propósito con el que están comprometidos al 100%. Representar a Guatemala en un Campeonato Mundial.

Para realizar esta proeza es necesario cubrir los costos de uniformes $1,000.00, inscripciones $3,900.00, hospedaje y alimentación $11,400.00, Boletos aéreos a Panamá $13,400.00. Para lograr esto desde el año 2017, se realizó una solicitud de apoyo por nuestra parte a las instituciones gubernamentales de Guatemala, cumplimos con un sin fin de requisitos solicitados con la esperanza del apoyo de los $29,700 USD necesarios para lograr nuestro cometido. Tras meses de seguimiento, visitas y llamadas solicitando información sobre nuestra solicitud, el pasado viernes 6 de julio (un mes antes de inicio del campeonato) se nos notificó que no fue aprobado ningún presupuesto para nuestra causa.

Nuestra última esperanza eres tú, en el campo de juego sería nuestra última oportunidad y sólo a través de un pase de Ave María podemos lograrlo, esperando lo atrapes en la zona de anotación y nos ayudes a completar nuestro cometido. tenemos casi todo, nos hemos preparado, sacrificado y hecho nuestro máximo esfuerzo para representar a nuestro país dignamente, con el corazón y poner su nombre en alto, sólo nos falta esto, ayúdanos a lanzar este pase  a la zona de anotación compartiendo este link y por favor ayúdanos atrapando este pase haciendo una donación que nos ayude a lograr nuestra meta.
