Teacher Haile Tesfamechaile started high school in Gojjam at Negus Teklehaimanot High School before transferring to Jimma for his 10th grade education. After he completed his 10th grade, he joined Teachers Training Institute in Harar. He then went on to join Addis Ababa University to complete his courses. Teacher Haile began his teaching career in Keren and taught for 2 years before moving to Addis Ababa to join Nativity Boys’ School. He started his years when Brother Steven was the headmaster of the school and taught for 32 years. During his tenure as an educator at NBS, Teacher Haile taught a variety of subjects to a wide array of learners ranging from regular students during the day to those who pursued GED certificates with evening classes. Subjects taught by Teacher Haile included Mathematics, General Science, History and Geography.
While he was at TTI in Harar, he picked up bodybuilding as a hobby and continued with that passion in Addis and motivated Teacher Kassa and others to join him at a health club. At the peak of his bodybuilding career, he stood toe to toe with Iseme Hassan who claimed to be the strongest man in Africa. Teacher Haile was an accomplished teacher at Cathedral who was loved and respected by his students.
Currently, Teacher Haile resides in Rome, Italy suffering from debilitating complications of diabetes including loss of vision. This is the time for us to step up and show how much we appreciated Teacher Haile’s influence in our lives. Please join us in helping support Teacher Haile on his fight to recovery! Teacher Haile has not been able to work for the past 16 years and has been on government assistance. He has been living alone in Rome after his wife passed away a few years ago.
Teacher Haile and his family would like to express their appreciation for the medical expenses assistance provided to him. Your donation will go directly to Teacher Haile. He is deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from his former students and good people from all over the world.
