Hailey Modesitt

Hello, my name is Balie Modesitt, and I am setting up a fundraiser to help with the costs of final services and memorial for my sister-in-law, Hailey Modesitt.

In August 2022 Hailey got sick, and after a couple of doctor visits, she was not getting better, in fact, she was slowly getting sicker. Hailey's mother, my mother-in-law, Becky took her to the ER to get some fluids and meds because she thought she was dehydrated....but Becky received the news that no mother should ever have to hear. The ER suspected it to be cancer.

Hailey and Becky were transported to Levine's Children's Hospital in uptown Charlotte, NC where they began running tests to find out exactly what was going on with sweet Hailey. The test results determined she had Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. The cancer had spread to most of her organs.

Hailey would have to stay in the PICU at Levine's Children's Hospital and receive several rounds of chemotherapy to treat the cancer. But along the way, her mother NEVER left her side. Becky was at the hospital every day and night, never leaving her baby girl to fight this alone. Becky was a huge advocate for Hailey receiving the proper care and treatments, she learned how to do the tasks the nurses did so that she could do them herself if no one was available at the moment things needed to be done, she feed Hailey when she could, she gave Hailey all the love that she deserves!

In February, a PET scan was done to determine if the treatments had worked....and Becky received the amazing news that the cancer appeared to be gone! They were going to be going home to rehabilitate Hailey in the comfort of their own home.

But this overwhelming joy was short lived...Hailey lost the use of her arm that following weekend and more tests and biopsies showed that the cancer had invaded Hailey's brain and spine.

The treatment for the cancer were now going to be more than Hailey's little body could handle, and the impossible decision was made to take Hailey home to enjoy her time left on this earth in the comfort of her home and with the people she loves the most.

Mt mother-in-law, Becky Bass, has been an amazing supporter for Hailey, being her sole provider most of Hailey's life, always doing everything she could to make sure Hailey had everything she needs and more than what she wants. In Hailey's final time, the last thing Becky should have to do is worry about how she will be laying her baby girl to rest.
