Haiti Air Ambulance: Access to Healthcare

A terrible accident.  The father of four, and sole breadwinner for the extended family lies grievously injured.  The  local health clinic has no ability to care for his injuries.  Travel to the hospital will take hours over terrible roads, over run with gangs and roadblocks.  In mere minutes Haiti Air Ambulance arrives and stabilizes the father before transporting him, free of charge, to the appropriate hospital, only minutes away by air.

This and similar scenarios occur many times a day in Haiti.  The need far outstrips the current resources.  HAA has been granted 1.8 million dollars to purchase a second aircraft. We need an additional  $500,000 to be able to reconfigure the aircraft as an air ambulance and add needed safety features.

 

Haiti Air Ambulance is an established non-profit providing the nation's only air ambulance to the 11.4 million person population of Haiti. Established in 2014, Haiti Air Ambulance has a long track record of commitment to Haiti. Haiti Air Ambulance focuses on employing local staff along with several ex-pats to provide world-class, safe, and innovative medical care and transport to anyone in the nation, regardless of ability to pay. Due to increased instability, roadblocks, and the departure of many medical NGOs, the need for Haiti Air Ambulances' services are significantly increasing.

 

 

 

Haiti Air Ambulance is on track to fly over 600 patients in 2022, and we daily have a backlog of patient mission requests that we cannot fulfill due to the lack of resources.  Outfitting this additional aircraft will directly and positively affect the lives of hundreds of people each year. Our patient population is the most underserved of the underserved.  Over 40% of our missions are for pediatric and neonatal patients, with a significant additional Obstetric population.
