Haiti Earthquake 2021 -Third Wave Volunteers

Tax deductible

UPDATE: AUG 29TH: My first impressions on the ground were that there was only about 1 % of help compared with the 2010 earthquake and Hurricane Matthew and the location in the south is much more difficult to access and manage.  The help is not reaching the areas-
and every village we hit has either not seen aid or an assessment team had come through with no aid for them.

I'm very worried about this disaster and the lack of larger help.
We have been traveling through the communities delivering solar lights, water filters, aid and medical- our local medical team are in
Tiburon today where another aftershock buried more homes. They will also be in Dame Marie.

Il la Vache had not had any help with 42 houses destroyed and 200 homes with severe cracks and outer island homes wiped out.
We delivered solar lights, water filters , N95 masks and aid etc and updated the local clinics about covid and future treatments equipping
them with a large stock of N95 masks.

Village after village had 90% plus houses destroyed and the highest need  was the call out for tents, tarps, light and water. Mayor are in charge of 72,000 people without water and shelter.

In Lescave, Duchity ( way up in the mountains) people walk from far away mountains to get help and there were 600 patients waiting at
a local school to receive medical treatments. Camp Perrin commune and Duchity commune were some of the worst areas we saw with 100% homes gone and Saint-Louis-du-SudChantal and Marcelline, Beaumont and L'Asile are just some of the areas who are desperate need for tents and tarps. ( we are sourcing tents and tarps in Port au Prince.)

Each village noted that so many people were still missing under the rubble and those numbers have not been included the death toll.
Its been an exhausting week on the ground so I'll stop here. The bottom line is so much more help is needed- Please donate!!

Thank you to our SMARTAID partners and our sponsors @Titoshandmadevodka

Its easy to be in the wrong place at the wrong time but a third wave volunteer is in the wrong place at the right time.

These are the solar lights below. A magic box of hope.

UPDATE: AUG 19th: Hi everyone we are hand delivering these amazing solar lights in Haiti to lighten up the darkest areas - they are a
magic box of hope. The earthquake last week stole 1000s of lives and homes.
The new model light has a red light in it and lasts over 12 hours with the longer battery and recharges in the sun.
They are 11$ each please donate and be part of this movement that brings great joy especially to the kids who are very scared at night. We don't just send them off into the unknown we give them out person to person along with water filters and medical help.

UPDATE:
Tropical storm Grace flooded into southern Haiti last night where people with homes lost in the earthquake are sleeping out in the open roads under tarps and plastic. The medical situation is getting under control with patients being airlifted but many clinics have no supplies
our teams are trying to reach them with supplies. Our solar lights and water filters will be landing in Haiti soon alongside our wonderful aid
partners called SMARTAID who are partnering with us. Please continue to donate for more solar lights- The people of Haiti are going through hell right now and will be in tents for at least a year.
Dr Alison Thompson - Founder- Third Wave Volunteers.
