On Sunday, February 9, 2020, Paul Hake and his son, Tyler (22), went snowmobiling on Mt. St. Helens. They were having fun until Tyler followed a trail and nose-dived over a cliff, falling approximately 10 feet into the snow. Because he fell head first, his torso wound up hitting the handlebars and engine of the machine. This caused extensive damage to his internal organs and he had to be flown via LifeFlight off the mountain and taken into emergency surgery. The brunt of his injuries were to his liver. After spending a week at the hospital, it was determined that he would need another surgery. Tyler successfully had a stent placed in his liver and was able to go home on Sunday, February 16th. Since his arrival back at home, he’s made a couple of extra visits to the Emergency Room. It will be a long road to recovery, but Tyler is strong, and he will continue the fight. Medical expenses are unknown at this time, but it will involve the cost of a LifeFlight Helicopter, an emergency surgery in the ER, a 6-7 day/night stay in the hospital (ICU) and a second surgery the day before releasing him, and multiple ER visits. Please share this story to support Paul and Tyler.
