In loving memory of Haley Butler

Hi, my name is Melissa. I am fundraising for my daughter-in-law, Haley Butler. This GoFundMe page is to help support the family in the cost of Haley’s final arrangements and incoming medical bills.

On August 4, Haley, her husband, Mikal, and her brother-in-law, Johnny, were hit head-on by an uninsured and impaired driver on Hwy 35.

Haley sustained the most severe injuries resulting in a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). She was life-flighted to the hospital, and due to the amount of blood loss, she received a blood transfusion.

She was admitted to the ICU for seven days and transferred to an Inpatient TBI rehab to recover and continue working through ongoing neurological, occupational, and speech therapy. During her stay at the TBI rehab, she came down with pneumonia. Haley was removed from the rehab and transferred to a standard hospital room to treat pneumonia. After pneumonia cleared up, Haley was not sent back to rehab to continue to receive treatment regarding her TBI. She was sent home.

During her time at home, she seemed to be doing okay and adjusting to the new routine, home health visits, etc.

After a wonderful morning, Haley began complaining of leg pain and a headache and laid down to take a nap. Mikal had checked on Haley about every 30 minutes during her rest. The last time he checked on her, she was unresponsive. Johnny called 911 while Mikal and I took turns performing CPR with the help of a 911 operator until the paramedics arrived. They all worked very hard trying to save Haley as well.

Heartbreaking to say, nothing helped. Haley passed on August 27th, just three days after being released from the hospital.
