Haleys cancer battle
Haley is an extraordinary 20 year old, that is facing an extraordinary battle against a rare stage 4 cervical cancer. She has metastasis to her lymph nodes and lungs. Haley has battled cancer before, losing both ovaries to this same rare form of cancer at 17. She was victorious then, and we have faith she will be victorious again.
Haley just completed her freshman year at college, (CCU) and is on track for the degree in three programs. She has worked throughout her freshman year, but has had to take medical leave and move back home while she undergoes aggressive treatment to fight back against the cancer. She receives radiation 5 days a week, and chemotherapy once a week. She has had stents placed in both kidneys and continues to have additional medical complications pop up.
Haley has 7 younger siblings living in the home with her . She is the daughter of a Marine Corp Disabled Veteran, that has suffered the loss of his small business during the pandemic. She has a type one diabetic brother, and her youngest sibling has significant hearing loss (that parents are in the stages of receiving treatment for ) that has him delayed in speech and behavior. Her father has medical Issues as a result of his service, and struggles with PTSD. Her mother is frantically trying to hold the household together.
The family has not had the ability to focus on one traumatic situation, and has been forced to spread resources to try to cover all of them at one time . Imagine the devastation of worrying how you are going to continue to pay living expenses, while covering the cost of travel and treatment to keep your child alive . Imagine the pain of wondering if paying the copays for insulin is going to leave enough to cover the cost of gas to drive 3 hours away for a procedure .
The mother is unable to work, due to juggling the care of three children with exceptional medical needs. The father is working on rebuilding his business and working as able, when not needed at medical appointments and providing support in the care of the children.
Any funds collected will go to help cover the cost of travel, treatment, and every day living expenses.
