I've wanted to see Hamilton since I heard about it last year. It isn't just a musical to me, though it's an amazing one. It seems like I can listen to the songs and find new meaning in them each time. I love the hip hop, the music, the strings, the delivery - everything about it, honestly. I don't know if I can say that for many other musicals, let alone albums.

Though my school went on a field trip to see it earlier this year, I wasn't allowed to go because of my grade (the trip was only for juniors and seniors, while I'm a sophomore.)

Hamilton isn't just a show for me. The fact that it's the most successful show on Broadway right now and was created by a person of color is extremely important to me. He's managed to open up doors for other POC, as well as himself, and has proven that casting people of color in no way diminishes the quality of a production but actually makes it better. 

I'm at the point in my teenager-dom where I'm making plans for what I want to do in the future, and Lin-Manuel Miranda  has shown me that I can do whatever I want as long as I'm willing to work hard and put in the heart. It's been difficult to find many stories like his. He has shown me that I can be a writer and creator, but also be widely sucessful about it without my race hindering me - it can instead empower me.

Since Hamilton is such a popular show, the only tickets available are resales, many of which are triple the price of an original ticket. I only aim to fundraise for one ticket, since they're so expensive, and want to be able to see the show before Lin-Manuel stops performing (apparently in July.)

If you can help me make this happen, I might just die of happiness - but my soul will inflate so much that I'll float over to you and personally say thank you.
