Help us empower adolescent girls through education and mentorship programs, enabling them to build a brighter future and break barriers of inequality.

Hamro Palo envisions a Nepal where girls have equal access to education, information, and a strong voice in schools, families, communities, and the nation. Hamro Palo focuses on uplifting girls through educational and empowerment programs, focusing on adolescent girls between the ages of 12 and 16. The organization’s programs focus on health, safety, confidence, and leadership. Hamro Palo also supports tailored programs to address the unique needs of married and out-of-school girls. Hamro Palo’s initiatives aim to reduce school dropout rates, combat early marriages, and break social stigmas. Over the past decade, Hamro Palo has impacted 7,599 girls in school and 322 girls who are married and out of school. Through the skills and lessons they learn, girls gain confidence, leadership skills, and the tools they need to identify and report gender-based violence.

In rural areas of Nepal, adolescent girls are often devalued, especially in families where financial resources are scarce, which leads to a preference for educating boys over girls. The Covid-19 pandemic exacerbated these challenges, making girls even more vulnerable to dropping out of school, marrying early, and human trafficking. Gender-based violence also increased during the pandemic, further compromising the safety of women and girls.

Hamro Palo’s “Her Turn” program aims to address marginalization of girls in Nepal to create more opportunities for girls to gain access to education and decision-making power within their families and communities. Her Turn is an educational and empowerment program which promotes gender equality, equips girls with life skills, and fosters a culture in which girls are seen as valuable contributors to society. Showing girls their value and power will not only build their own confidence, but it will also have a ripple effect within the community as girls become agents of change and leaders in their own right. Her Turn also includes a mentorship component for graduates of the program to provide continuity in learning and provide a sustained impact on girls’ development and growth. Through the Her Turn program, Hamro Palo aims to build a new generation of confident leaders among young girls.
Join us in achieving this mission to empower girls, create change, and build stronger communities. Please contribute to and share our campaign to make a difference in the lives of Nepali girls. Together, let's foster an equitable and inclusive future!
