Those of you who know me may know how hard it is for me to do something like set up a GoFundMe and ask for help. However, my family and I have been faced with some difficult circumstances lately, and we would greatly appreciate any support. I created this GoFundMe to help cover some of the expenses from my dad's funeral, cremation, etc. It has been a hard year for us financially, and my siblings and I had already been trying our best to support our parents, whose incomes were affected by COVID-19. Any support, monetary or otherwise, is appreciated.
My dad passed away sometime around October 25th of this year. We don't know exactly when or exactly why. It came as an extreme shock to us because he had no known health issues aside from high blood pressure, which was being treated. My sister spoke to him last on October 24th, and when she tried calling him the next morning, he did not pick up. We had no reason to believe that anything was wrong other than his missing my sister's call. After a day or so had gone by without contact, my sister got worried and called the police. The police stated that his body had been found in his apartment and that he been deteriorating for days. They would not allow my sister to see him, for fear of trauma. We were not able to save any of his belongings except for his cell phone and his wallet.
My dad was an extremely bright and happy man. He loved to sing. He loved to eat good food and visit beautiful places. He loved frozen yogurt. He loved to read and write, and his goal was to write a Christian book that would win a Nobel Prize. He was in the process of writing such a book when he died, but we never got to see it. He was a man of faith and devoted his Sundays to worshipping at his church. Most importantly, he was our goofy, happy dad. He was only 59 years old.
On October 30th, we said our last goodbyes. It was my dad's wish to be cremated and for his ashes to be spread in the ocean, so we honored him this way. It has been extremely hard adjusting to our new normal without him and returning to our daily lives. Thank you to everyone who thought of us, prayed for us, and supported us during this time.
