Saint Abo Incense
With the blessings of his Eminence, Metropolitan Demetrius, “Please go ahead and start making incense. ‘May the Lord bless the work of your hands’ and lead you to salvation! Amen! In Christ, + M Demetrius.”
It gives us great joy to announce the reopening of Saint Abo Incense after 20 years. When we first started making incense in the early 90’s we decided to name our business after Saint Abo the Perfumer and Martyr of Baghdad. Because of his profession as a maker of fine perfumes and ointments, it seemed appropriate to have him as our patron.
Unlike our original desire to make incense back in the 90’s, it has become increasingly evident that in the GOC here in America, while there are those who paint Icons or make candles, there is no one providing incense for our Church. As a result, our Diocese had to reach out to another dioceses to purchase incense therefore, we decided to reopen our incense making to fill that gap.
Our reason for reaching out to our fellow brethren with our “Go Fund Me” page, is to ask for your aid in helping us to fulfill this need. We have been working diligently to get this mission up and running as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, we have run into financial setbacks. While we have prepared a space in our home basement where we will make the incense, purchased equipment and some of the product needed to make the incense, the cost for the oils needed has, in some cases, more than doubled in cost from 20 years ago. At present, this will limit our ability to produce but a few of the different fragrances we want to make.
We would like to acknowledge and thank those of you that have already been kind and generous in answering our request for assistance! As part of our receiving donations, we have promised to take 10% of your donations and send it to our Diocese to help our Churches were needed. Know therefore that your assistance will not only help us, but it will also help to support our Diocese, as well as to provided incense within our own Diocese of the GOC. And so dear brothers and sisters in Christ, we are once again reaching out for your assistance in helping us to start our incense making to the Glory of God and His Church. It is our hope to be up and running by Nativity, O.S., and so we are asking that anyone who wishes to help us financially, no matter how small, can do so through the “go fund me” address below. May God bless you and your generosity.
With much brotherly love in Christ!
