US Hands Off Mexico GoFundMe Campaign Launched
Effort will support activities to defend Mexico and Mexicanos/Latinos
(Los Angeles, CA) William C. Velasquez Institute (WCVI) and the Latino Voters League (LVL) today launched an online fundraising effort to support educational and protest activities aimed at mobilizing Mexican-origin persons and their allies against President Trump's recent orders and threats to build the 2,000-mile wall on the US southern border, dramatically increase deportations of unauthorized immigrants, defund sanctuary cities, tax Mexico trade, and tax remittances to Mexico.
The campaign to raise an initial $25000 from online donations from GoFundMe.com will be used to support a mobilizing coalition of leaders and organizations around the platform of:
Stopping the Border Wall;
Halting deportations;
Defending Sanctuary Cities;
Opposing US trade sanctions against Mexico;
Opposing taxes on US remittances to Mexicans;
Protecting immigrant families with state legislation;
Defending the federal DACA program.
