Hang on, you are not alone!
Urgent appeal from Genevieve’s Fair Trade Village (GFTV)
The Coronavirus has forced us to close our not-for-profit retail shop that currently supports 10 artisans with disabilities through the sale of their products and partly supports another 20 or so artisans with disabilities by selling products they make at their NGO; 6 families (previously homeless) with wheelchair accessible transitional housing, food security and livelihood development; and 10 tuk-tuk drivers with disabilities through marketing their services.
The Hang On, you are not alone! campaign is a GFTV initiative to assist persons with disabilities living in Siem Reap, and their families survive the COVID-19 economic crisis. Our Priorities are to:
1) help vulnerable families survive so they can return to taking care of themselves when things improve.
2) survive as a social enterprise so that our constituents have something to come back to, since Genevieve’s Fair Trade Village is one of the few beacons of hope for people with disabilities in Siem Reap Province.
3) share resources with our community partners who are creating their own initiatives to help their staff and their stakeholders, who have one foot out of poverty at best.
We project that the earliest tourists may return to see Angkor Wat, will be around December 2020. We need to act now to create a bridge for the families they serve now and other families who will need help in the coming months.
Siem Reap Food Bank - help feed hungry families
These folks and their families were already living near or below the poverty line, but now they have no income for the foreseeable future. To compound this, they live in an area of impending drought, similar to 2016, when lives were lost for the lack of drinking water. They need our support more than ever, to ensure they make it through the COVID-19 pandemic with their physical and mental health intact and with some hope for the future.
GFTV Online Shop - help local artisans earn a fair wage
GFTV is in the process of resetting our operations ASAP by creating an online shop in an endeavour to earn some income. Since their customers can’t come to them, they will go to them. However, it will take a modest amount of cash, and a lot of time and energy to get their online store operational.
Please donate now - Together we can spread the message “Hang on you are not alone!” and assist persons with disabilities living in Siem Reap get through the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are sensitive to the fact that in these times money is tight, but even a small amount will go a long way. As a global community, we can achieve this goal. We only need 1,000 people from across the entire world to donate as little as us$10 (au$15) to succeed. Please help us meet this challenge by making a donation and sharing our campaign throughout your networks. GoFundMe - The minimum donation amount is $5.

How funds for this campaign are being processed & delivered to GFTV.
I am a volunteer for GFTV , and I have been assisting them with their social media & website development since 2018. GoFundMe does not operate in Cambodia. Therefore, I started this campaign in Australia on their behalf to assist them to achieve their fundraising goal.
Funds raised through this campaign site are automatically transferred to my Australian Bank account and then transferred directly into GFTVs ABA bank account in Cambodia. To ensure GFTV has a continuous cash flow to purchase food & other essential items throughout the coming months' monies will be transferred to GFTV's account on a regular basis.
GoFundMe Tip
GoFundMe adds a default Tip of 15% to each donation to help them maintain and improve their free platform. The GoFundme Tip is voluntary and you can change the default tip amount when you donate. How to change the default tip amount
Transaction Fees
For all donations, industry-standard transaction fees apply to cover credit card processing and the safe transfer of funds from GoFundMe. In Australia these fees are: 2.2% + 0.30c per transaction. I pledge to donate the cost of the transaction fees and also the bank transfer fees (i.e. Australian bank charge au$20 & ABA bank inward SWIFT fee us$10 per transaction) until we reach our goal amount of au$15,000.
100% of your donation will go to GFTV to support families living with disabilities in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
GFTV accounting is up-to-date and open to inspection. We will post regular updates about the Food Bank operations and other fundraising initiatives on the GFTV website and Facebook Page.
Best wishes, Jenni
