Rabee J R Abunahel:
Hi, I'm Rabee, and I'm excited to support Hani in this campaign. He is my friend that's been there for me no matter what. We've had some incredible adventures and gone through ups and downs together. I want to have his back and support him through this rough patch, just like he's always had mine. Please read his story and help his family!
Hani Shehada:
Hello. This is Hani. I am a nurse with a postgraduate diploma in Mental Health. I am a devoted father to two beautiful children: Amal, 5, and Majd, 2. As the eldest son, I have the responsibility of caring for my 62-year-old father and 59-year-old mother, as well as being a supportive husband and a supportive big brother to my siblings, Momen, Randa, and Ahmed. Together, we have shared a life full of love and resilience in Gaza, standing hand in hand through the challenges in Gaza.
Our story, while deeply personal, is all too common in Gaza. Over the past nine months, we have faced constant bombings and have been displaced at least four times. We have lost our source of income, and more painfully, we have lost friends and loved ones. Fear and worry for the future permeate every second of our lives.
Despite the frequency of such hardships in Gaza, it never becomes any less heartbreaking watching the place where you have poured your heart and soul into creating a safe and loving environment for your family be destroyed. This is our home right now.
Since the genocide started, we have been displaced from Gaza. My family and I fled our home under continuous shelling, carrying our backbags, and headed to the middle area. There, we endured some of the hardest days of our lives as everything we knew changed around us. The intensity of airstrikes and shelling forced us to move to Rafah, hoping to find safety, but we were soon evacuated again to Kanyounis and the middle area, where the bombardment continued relentlessly.
Each time we are forced to relocate, we face new challenges and heartbreaks, leaving behind the small bit of stability we had managed to create. The constant moving has been exhausting, both physically and emotionally, stripping away the normalcy we desperately try to hold onto. As a father, I am deeply worried about my children's mental and physical health. Their safety and future are always on my mind.
Even during these dark times, we strive to find hope. We believe that a better future is possible, even when the world around us seems to crumble. The pain and suffering we are enduring are beyond words, and it is a burden I wish my children never have to bear. Every day, I witness the innocence slowly fading from their faces, and it breaks my heart. They deserve a childhood free from fear and trauma, a life where they can dream and grow without fear. This is why we are trying to find them a place where they can experience the peace and stability that every child deserves.
We are urgently seeking help to evacuate from Gaza. We need a safe and healthy environment, away from violence and perpetual fear. Your support can help us have a chance at a peaceful future.
As of late April, the evacuation fee ranges between $5,000 and $7,000 per person, before processing and transport fees. We will pay the higher end of the range because many of us do not have passports. My family and I are asking for $60,000 based on the following breakdown: an evacuation fee at the Egyptian border of $5,000-$7,000 per person (each day there is a different price for the evacuation fee at the Egyptian border), plus a processing fee of $2,000 per person, $2,000 for transportation, and a 2.9% commission fee.
Please share this campaign widely to help us reach our goal and bring my family to safety. Your support means more than you can imagine.
Thank you for your compassion and generosity. Together, we can make a change and help my family find the safety and security we need.
