Hannah and Adam Welke House Fire Recovery

Donation protected

Hannah and Adam were getting ready to celebrate Memorial Weekend on Friday, May 26th when one of their dogs alerted them to danger in their backyard. To their shock, there was a fire burning on their side yard, and in no time their house was also alit. They had little time to grab the 3 pets they could find and leave the property. They had to rely on the fire department to rescue their last cat and deal with the fire. The fire resulted in a total loss of their garage and patio, some damage to their attic and smoke damage throughout the rest of the house. For Adam and Hannah, this meant they could not return to their house and with the smoke damage they were unable to take belongings with them. They will more than likely spend the next 6 months (and more) recovering from this. They were able to stay at a family home for a few days, but are now in a hotel until better housing is found or they can return home. They will have to leave some pets in the care of others which is not easy to do especially as one of their pets has some health issues.

I had this same experience almost a year ago. It is not easy being taken away so quickly from your HOME and thrust into the unknown. I have created this fundraiser to help Adam and Hannah with the upfront costs of navigating the path to fire recovery and also to provide some stress relief to the unknowns that lay ahead.

Although their insurance will be helpful, they aren't completely sure how much they will cover as of yet. And from personal experience, even if insurance covers everything you cannot imagine what it is like to wait for life to return to any form of normalicy.

I know that many people wish to be more hands-on with recovery like this, however, there is not much that one can do in this situation. Professionals will most likely be the ones to come in to itemize unsalvagable items and clean salvageable contents. Contractors will complete the needed repairs. Donations through this GoFundMe are more likely to be of benefit to Adam and Hannah, as they will be able to start to replace some of what they have lost, like Dog Beds and Cat Toys, Shoes, Hair Dryers, towels, books, COFFEE, a meal outside of a hotel! (Yeah, a hotel room gets tiring after a while). And it will help to eliminate some of the stressors they are facing.

Please donate if you are able, and share this post. Although the funds will be appreciated, it is your caring that will mean the most!

Here is a link to the news article regarding their fire. I am guessing they may have some legal stressors with this as well, but let's show them how much support they have from us!
