Hi all! I’m Kayla and I’m setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of my dear friends, Hannah and Matt Manson. Hannah and I grew up together and are like family. I’ve been lucky enough to remain friends with her as she started her new family with her amazing husband, Matt, and a beautiful baby girl, Maeve.
Their Story:
Back in 2006, when Hannah and I were freshman at the University of Vermont, she met some cute guy at a party and they exchanged numbers. Deciding that the “3-day rule” and “waiting for the guy to call” were not her style, she called him for their first date. Fast forward five years of dating, Hannah and Matt decided to take a risk and move out to the Bay Area in California to explore and share in new experiences. In 2015, well after the 7-year itch, they finally got engaged and had a beautiful wedding back with their families in Vermont. After much debate, they decided to move back to Vermont and start a family. These two freckled face cuties have been together ever since and have welcomed the sweetest bundle of joy, Maeve, into their lives.
The Diagnosis:
In the fall of 2017, Hannah and Matt had bought a house together and were expecting a new edition to their family. It was then that Hannah was diagnosed with Stage 3 melanoma. She was only 29 years old at the time and lived a healthy life style so this news came as a shock. With a recent move, a new house, and a baby on the way, there was already enough stress and chaos in the Manson’s life. I think most people could easily fall into despair from the weight of a cancer diagnosis on top of everything, but not Hannah. With the support of her husband, family, and friends, she has fought like the strong woman that she is. Her positive attitude, persistence, and insight have been some of her most admirable qualities during this trying time.
Despite complications with immunotherapy, she and Matt continue to find joy when they can. They enjoy the comforts of home and getting to witness each milestone little Maeve achieves. Although Hannah’s life is no longer in danger, she still needs constant medical care to treat both the cancer and the effects that the immunotherapy treatment has caused her body.
How you can help:
Hannah recently left her job to focus on her physical health, mental health, and being a wonderful mother to their baby. Down to only one income, the Manson’s could use support in paying for medical check-ups, medications, continued tests, and general health wellness.
Thank you for taking the time to read this story and any contributions would be helpful. If you would like to help get the word out, please feel free to share this on your Facebook or any other social media platforms.
