Hannah’s 200km Triathlon Mashup for Reverse Rett (& Poppy!)

LET’S GOOOOO! This April my plan is to achieve 200km by means of a mixture of swimming, running & cycling (a month long triathlon mashup is what I’m calling it ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️) in honour of my beautiful 10 year old niece Poppy who has Rett Syndrome. Little girls are mostly affected by Retts & it usually becomes apparent between the ages of 1 & 2; they’re described as being “locked in” as they have cognitive abilities but are unable to walk, or talk or control their bodies. The symptoms vary from child to child, Poppy’s stomach is often uncomfortable for her (it’s the only time you see her upset, she’s such a happy, calm girl & seeing her in discomfort is heartbreaking.) She’ll also need surgery on her hips later in the year and she will need surgery on her spine going forwards to correct the spinal curve (she’ll have metal rods inserted in her back). Her mum works so hard to take the best care of her, it’s getting more intense to lift her as she gets older & the future is always a little worrying for her..
which is why I am raising money for Reverse Rett, who are an incredible organisation (founded by parents of children with Retts). They are working hard on treatments & a cure. This could change Poppy’s future & many other souls affected by Retts. They fund research and forge connections between scientists, doctors and families affected by Rett Syndrome to help make this goal a reality.

In advance, I & my family are soooo grateful for any donation large or small everything is deeply appreciated thanks for making a difference.
