Hannah's Heartbreak: Starting Over After Fire

I am writing this on behalf of my daughter. We received a phone call from her at 2:51 am this morning. After getting off work, she and a friend went to her apartment. When they arrived, they opened the door and were greeted with an apartment full of smoke and knee-high flames. They were able to put most of the fire out with water from the sink and jugs of water that she had. She called the fire department and her father and me. Her dad answered the phone to our baby crying her eyes out. She just lost everything, including her two cats that she loved more than words can say. I rushed to her apartment as the paramedics were checking her and her friend out. She refused an ambulance ride as I was there. The paramedics recommended they go to the emergency room. Over the next hour and a half, fire personnel and police personnel were in and out of the apartment doing their best to extinguish the rest of the fire and assess the situation. The investigator stated that she was perplexed and couldn’t find a reason for the fire. I then took them to the ER where they were assessed and cleared with minor smoke inhalation. The staff at her apartment complex is working with her to find a solution for housing once an apartment opens up. Any donations will be used for medical expenses, basic needs, and to help Hannah get back on her feet. She is starting over. I am grateful for the emergency personnel for their compassion and service. Thank you.
