Happiness Home India

Happiness Home in Churchandpur, India is home to over 70 displaced, ill or otherwise ostracized women and children. This giant labor of love is made possible by one man; In 2007 Rama invited into his home a woman and her infant daughter who were turned away from every other suitable place of residence because they were both HIV positive. Three years passed and during that time Rama's name became known as one of comfort, understanding and unconditional love. Rama has given when he didn't have enough for himself, he's given at great cost to himself. He's an example for us all and we'd really like to make his life a little easier in the coming years. While Rama, and the many people who care for him and the wellbeing of the residents at Happiness Home, have made huge strides there is still much they have learned to do without. Including beds for each of the children, clean water from a local source, consistent electricity and a balanced diet for each individual. These things are what we hope to tackle in our first trip this March. This will be a trip to accurately assess the most pressing needs at Happiness Home and set bigger goals to achieve either this Fall or next Spring that will eliminate some of the less pressing issues.There are many many ways in which we can all do good in this world and it's easy to be disconnected, it's easy to be so wrapped up in our own lives that we don't feel compassion when we think of these sweet little souls and that's something we're hoping to change for each of you that has an opportunity to give.
