Happy Healthy Maddie Needs Radiation
Donation protected
Maddie Mae, my 10 y/o female black lab, spent the day at the Vet Specialists getting a CT Scan on her 10th birthday. The scan determined she has a 8.2 cm length by 2 cm thick and 2.2 cm tall wall large nasal tumor mass completely blocking the left nasal passage and reaching back into her throat; currently, there is no brain involvement with some lymph nodes behind the nose enlarged. The biopsy result revealed mixed inflammation without evidence of infectious organisms or cancer cells.
Bred and Raised as a Guiding Eyes for the Blind service dog, our love together first began at 12 weeks old as I volunteered to raise her while working on her foundation training. At just over a year and a half, I drove her to NY State, and dropped her off at their facility, saying bye for “the last time.” I packed up a UHaul, and moved to Nashville; 4 days later, they called me asking if I would adopt her. Before birth she was tagged as a potential Breed Dog, in addition to being paired up with someone to serve, because of this, they did extensive testing that they wouldn’t have otherwise done, and found that she has MVD/TVD (valve displacement in her heart) which could potentially pass down to future generations, but also could mean she may need medication, less activity, and a potentially shorter lifespan. Not only would she not become a mommy herself, but GEB wasn’t going to spend the rest of the $56k/dog it takes to train them. Next thing you know, my lil’ Country loving dog became a City Pup with her Momma.
Besides a torn pad on her paw once, and the occasional yeast buildup in her ears, she's been a PERFECTLY healthy dog. To be able to continue this healthy life, she needs Radiation Therapy, which will require traveling out of state for a month of treatments since there is no facility in the state of Tennessee or Kentucky that can do so. The radiation itself will amount to around $10k, not including additional CT Scans, supplements, holistic care and medication.
She's my one and only true love, my kid, my everything. I have to do anything and everything I can do to enable her to fulfill the happy healthy life she is destined to have.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated to offset the financial burden as I strive to make sure she has the care she deserves. I can also provide the accounts and contact information if you would like to pay the facilities directly.
