Happy Land Safe Haven for Children & Teens
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lynne and I am fundraising for a children’s refuge in my home country of Namibia, Southern Africa. Happy Land Safe Haven for Children and Teens is where children, many of whom have been abused, rejected and discarded, are loved and cared for by house parents Carmen and Johannes Haoseb in their home in Henties Bay, Namibia, Southern Africa.
They do not receive any formal/consistent funding and are dependent on Johannes’s job as a fisherman and donations from the community.
The children range in age from 8 months to 18 years with several children having a disability of some kind. Every child at Happy Land Safe Haven has a heartbreaking story.
The home is located in an impoverished area of the town. Carmen and her husband have been very resourceful in adapting their small home to accommodate all the children. A child is never refused sanctuary with them.
There are showers for the children but they are not used because of the high cost of water so therefore they have to make use of sponge baths.
I am so grateful to donors that have already given so that we were able to purchase school stationery requirements for 2022.
Oasis Chiropractic in Roanoke, VA donated funds so that a permanent girl's dormitory can be built onto the home. Building should commence within the next few months.
Many donations have been received from people who give regularly but the needs are great and ongoing.
Having just visited Happy Land Recently (April 2023), I have been updated regarding current needs. I would love to be able to raise funds for the following projects:
1. Purchase a heavy-duty clothes washer & dryer ($1,500)
2. Purchase a good pre-owned van for transportation ($24,500)
Thank you for any and all donations and prayers.
I will provide an accounting of disbursement of funds on request by donor.
