Happy Boy Farms: Disaster Relief!
Donation protected
Last year at this time, we prayed for rain, as we had experienced significant crop failure due to years of drought. This winter, we got what we prayed for, and it has rained, and rained, and rained, resulting in flooding that has caused catastrophic damage to our farm. While we know the risk of farming fresh, organic produce looms large, this winter season has hit us harder than any of our 25 years growing organically. A thirt foot river of water swept away our tractor while wiping out over 100 acres of crops ready for harvest. Meanwhile, the flooding has prevented us from accessing 80 acres of our fields to plant for the upcoming spring crops. In all, over 1/2 of our productive land is inaccessible. Furthermore, several large electric motors that power our wells have been ruined by flood waters. Now more than ever, the generosity of our dedicated customer base will help to determine the future of our farm.
We are lucky enough to exist in a beautiful community of dedicated customers and friends–both at our weekly farmers' markets as well as our chefs and grocery buyers. We are eternally grateful for your continued support as you purchase what crops we have left this season. And at this time, we ask for you to dig a little deeper to help us get back on our feet–and quite literally get above water.
In addition to accepting donations via this page, we also created a credit voucher program that allows you to invest in our farm in a way that will circle back to you. In the spirit of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), we are offering credit vouchers equal to your donation, with an additional 10% to spend at farmers' markets. Therefore, if you are a farmers' market customer, show proof of your Go Fund Me contribution and you will receive a voucher as gratitude for your generosity. These vouchers are valid beginning in Peak Season, June 1st, 2017.
Our committment to continuing to grow outstanding, accessible organic produce for our community is stronger than ever; we grow for you! We so deeply appreciate your willingness to give in our time of need, and look forward to getting through this challenging time. Until then, we will work toward a stellar summer season of juicy heirloom tomatoes, savory summer squash, and sweet melons (you know the ones!)
Cheers and many thanks in advance,
