HELP THE HARDESTY'S

Dear friends and family,
I'm not sure if you're aware yet but Derek was in a very bad motorcycle accident Thursday morning (10/9/14) on his way to work. A SUV in front of him had slammed on the brakes at the last minute and Derek had no where to go other to slam on his brakes and he ran into the back of the SUV. His shoulder and chest hit the back of the SUV and somehow, we're not exactly sure where he hit but he broke his femur in half it had punctured through his groin area just missing his femoral artery by a centimeter or two. He is so very lucky to be alive right now. If he would have even kicked the artery, he would have bled out before he made it to the hospital. He's been having a lot of chest pain & trouble breathing. He had to have emergency surgery on his leg to have rods & screws put in. After 6 days he was finally able to come home. He'll have a physical therapist & home nurse come out to our house everyday to work with him. He won't be able to walk fully for at least 6 to 12 weeks. Unfortunately we found out that he won't be able to go back to work for another 6 to 12 months. His work is trying to help us as much as possble. But we're still going to be without income for quite some time. We are going to end up losing our health insurance after 3 months… And then with all our regular bills...
We have no idea how we're going to get through this. We have never been the type of people to ask for money or handouts but this is when we need our family and friends support most! I am begging everybody to please be able to donate anything towards our financial difficulties right now. I know times are tough for everybody right now but even a little bit would help. If you could please somehow help us we would greatly appreciate every little bit. We have a very long recovery ahead of us and don't know exactly how we're going to deal with it. But I'm begging for any little bit of help that we can receive. If you can find it possible to help donate anything could you please let me know...
We are a strong family, but financially we are in a severe hardship. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 301-861 -9857 .This is something that we would never do, asking for handouts for help but I don't know else to do in a situation. If anybody has any ideas or want to help tried to run a fundraiser for Derek it would also greatly be appreciated. Right now all my time is consumed in trying to help him 24/7.
You don't understand how appreciative we would be and how hard this is to ask of our family and friends ... But those of you who do know Derek well, knows that Derek would bend over backwards to help anybody and usually does. And now is the time when we need it the most. We're afraid that we may lose our house or truck. Plus, thinking ahead towards Christmas time. Our kids aren't selfish at all. But I would hate for them not to have a Christmas. Have a very blessed day and whether you can help us or not please keep us in your prayers and thoughts. You don't understand how thankful I am to have him home with us and have him alive, and nothing more serious. But the financial burden is still very depressing and scary and when you don't know what's going to happen tomorrow, it's kind of hard to be able to worry about helping yourself heal.
Thank you so much and have a blessed day!
Sincerely,
Nicole & Derek Hardesty
