Hard work goes up in FLAMES at KwikTrip Delafield

Donation protected
Last night, August 24, 2020, Aaron R. purchased a truck to get him to and from school at UW-Milwaukee this fall.  After purchasing the truck,  Aaron began driving back home.  However, four miles down the road, he pulled off the highway because something didn’t seem right, and his friend who was following him noticed smoke coming from the truck.  Aaron parked in the lot at the Kwik Trip in Delafield, right off of I-94.  A few minutes later, a passing Sheriff’s Department deputy noticed flames and smoke coming from the truck.

The deputy and civilians used multiple fire extinguishers attempting to put out the fire coming from the engine compartment. Shortly after their efforts started, Lake Country Fire and Rescue responded and finished extinguishing the blaze.  The swift work of the civilians and first responders prevented the fire from spreading to the nearby building or any other vehicles.

During this incident, I met Aaron, who was understandably upset, as he worked 40-60 hours a week this summer to save up for a more reliable vehicle and pay down his tuition balance.  Aaron purchased this truck for $3,250 only thirty minutes before it went up in flames!  These facts were confirmed by speaking to the private seller, and looking at the bill of sale, odometer reading, and signed title. Since Aaron and the seller had signed a contract stating the vehicle was in “as-is” condition, the seller was not willing to give Aaron his money back.

Aaron had driven the truck only FOUR miles before the fire and complete loss of his newly-owned vehicle.  His summer of work burned right in front of his eyes.  Auto insurance was in the process of being applied for and therefore is no benefit to him.  His Dad arrived and helped him pay for a private tow to remove the vehicle from Kwik Trip.

The goal of this campaign is to support Aaron, allow him to focus on his college studies, and ease the burden of purchasing a new vehicle.  We hope to make him whole after experiencing this unfortunate turn of events.  Any contribution will help him!  When I spoke with Aaron, he was completely humbled and shocked anyone would be willing to help him during his difficult time. Let's show him how lake country cares!
