Harjit Bahia Memorial Award

In honor of Harjit Bahia, who was taken from us too soon, we celebrate the many ways he was a light in the lives of so many people. He lived his life with integrity, compassion and without judgement that uplifted everyone around him. As an educator for over 20+ years, he held a special place in his heart for youth – especially those that faced barriers.

In recognition of the countless lives he has shaped so positively as a teacher, this inaugural Harjit Bahia Memorial Award will become a legacy through which we honour Harjit’s spirit through awarding an annual award to a deserving student at Garibaldi Senior Secondary school (Maple Ridge) who will be pursuing chemistry/education and who has shown resilience despite obstacles in their life and serve as an inspiration to others.

100% of the proceeds will be used to establish an endowment to enable future generation of deserving students to obtain assistance to their post-secondary goals in chemistry/education and to honour a life taken too soon but one that will continue to leave an indelible mark in this world.

If you wish to receive a charitable tax receipt: please make your cheque payable to School District No. 42 and note on the reference line of the cheque that it is for “Harjit Bahia Memorial Award”. Cheques should be mailed to: School District No. 42 – 22225 Brown Avenue, Maple Ridge, BC V2X 8N6 All donations will receive a charitable donation receipt which will be mailed by the School District 2 – 3 times during the year (and not immediately).
