On Wednesday, June 6, 2018, Harleigh Berry stopped breathing in her mom, Ashleigh's arms at home. Ashleigh immediately began chest compressions while her husband, Pat, called 911. After arriving at the hospital and undergoing multiple tests, it was discovered that Harleigh had not only one, but two brain aneurysms. Unfortunately, one had ruptured. On Friday, June 8th, Harleigh underwent a complicated six hour brain surgery and was mostly sedated for the following two weeks. After conducting extensive research, Harleigh’s doctors determined she is only the third baby worldwide and the only baby in the Midwest this has ever happened to. She has made a miraculous recovery thus far and it's possible she may be able to return home next week but there are still so many unknowns. We are starting this account to help the Berrys offset some of the unexpected expenses that arise when an emergency like this occurs such as current medical costs, missed time at work, future medical costs, etc. In addition to these expenses, Harleigh is also going to likely need both physical and occupational therapy.
