Harlem: Laptop Initiative for Students in Need
Donation protected
With your generosity, we will be able to give up to 1000 laptops to students of all ages in Central Harlem, who needs them the most for assignments, job opportunities, college applications, and academic excellence. Each laptop cost up to $400.00. Central Harlem has the most students in temporary housing, shelters, English language learners and a high rate of students with IEP's. Central Harlem is also the most overlooked community in the city. Yet, so much culture and history come out of Harlem. It's time to give back to this community.
Since COVID-19, our children have been disproportionately traumatized by this virus, from losing loved ones, food insecurity and not having the tools to further their education. This has been heartbreaking to us as a community. We are hopeful that in raising the funds for the devices, Internet Providers will partner with us to help give back to the community with free and dependable WiFi services. If we have money left over after the purchase of the laptops, we will purchase coats for children in shelters and temporary housing.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to help increase equity and access in Central Harlem. In solidarity, Pamela Stewart, community leader and parent advocate, along with Moms United For Black Lives New York City and Parents Supporting Parents NY are together taking on this task for the Black and Brown Children of Harlem. We know with your support we will surpass our expectations. This is what community looks like. Updates will be provided periodically for transparency.
Your donation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
