Harold Snipes ALS Fund

Most of you know my dad was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) a/k/a Lou Gehrigs Disease.  ALS is a very  progressive and almost always fatal neurological disease.  In this disease, nerve cells break down, which reduces functionality in the muscles they supply. These include nerve cells which move muscles when we speak, walk, swallow, and move our body.   It leads to inability to speak and swallow, paralysis and eventually death.   There is no cure.

My daddy has always been a very strong and proudly independent man.  He is the rock of our family.  He has been so important not only to me but in the lives of my 3 boys.  In fact, growing up as an only child, there was always at least one or more of my boy cousins at our house every night hanging out with my daddy.  I have watched him help so many others in need behind the scenes and no one ever knew and now the time has come that he needs help.  He himself would never ask for help but I am reaching out for help in order to preserve his quality of life.

At this point, income is greatly limited and there is a great need for equipment and medications.  Disability has not kicked in and there is no insurance as of yet.  We have a volunteer who will build a wheelchair ramp at no cost but we are in need of the wood and materials to make this happen.  There is also a lot of things that have to be changed around the house to make the environment safe.
