Ghostly They-Bar in Millvale - Harold's Haunt!

Help us fund our Ghostly They-bar!

The queer witches of Maude's Paperwing Gallery are concocting something magickal: We have been in process of buying the bar a block away from our shop, but we need your help to make it happen!

You may have seen us posting about our Witchy Wednesday events, when we take over Howard's Pub for an evening of potions and treats - SURPRISE! It has all been part of our master plan: Buying Howard's Pub from its current (absolutely wonderful) owners! We'll be taking over and giving it a bit of a rebrand, while making sure it stays a welcoming space, especially to the LGBTQIA+ community. Soon you'll be able to stop by Harold's Haunt for a brew or a potion!

Harold's Haunt

Offering an inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment for LGBTQIA+ community members, Harold’s Haunt will be the first They-Bar in Pittsburgh. We provide a space to create community-building events and atmosphere for all, but especially members of the LGBTQIA+ community–in particular, those that lack a safe meeting space, like non-binary individuals, queer femme folk, sober individuals, and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color).

Millvale Queer Space

Millvale is making great strides towards becoming a vibrant and inclusive place. Harold's Haunt will continue this progress by being a designated Queer space right in the heart of Millvale! The Maude's Paperwing Gallery crew has been diligently working on making sure safe space is accessible in Millvale for the LGBTQIA+ community, and we're not alone! We are excited for this next step in the process. Having a They-bar right in the heart of Millvale will be such a huge step towards creating safe space in the neighborhood! Learn more about it here!

Wait, don't you mean 'GAY bar', not 'They-bar'?

Well, see, here's the thing. Gay bars as a genre tend to often cater more towards cisgender white males than the rest of the LGBTQIA+ community. And as cool as it sounds to talk about our 'GAY GHOST BAR', we want to make the entire LGBTQIA+ community knows that Harold's is a space for them. By claiming the title 'They-Bar', we are promising to hold space for the non-binary, trans, lesbian, gender fluid, etc. members of our community. Read more about why we think this is important here.

We're gonna have SOBER OPTIONS!

One of the loudest bits of feedback we've gotten from the community is that folks really want to have space to hang out where they don't HAVE to get drunk to have fun! We are always going to have a menu of mocktails available that are made with JUST as much care as our specialty cocktails. Read more here!

Critical Role, anyone?

The witches at Maude's Paperwing Gallery are giant nerds, and they spend their Thursdays with the Critical Role crew. And, well, we figured, we might as well tune in TOGETHER!! Once we're fully up and running, we'll be hosting weekly watch parties of Critical Role (and probably Dimension 20 as well...) with BONUS themed drinks and foods!

Why do we need the funds?

We've been in the process of locking this deal down for months now, and we are SO CLOSE! We have a killer business plan, some amazing plans in the works, and a stellar crew. We just need some extra funds to get up and running! Any money donated to our GoFundMe will be used for paying our crew and upgrading the space as we transform the space from Howard's Pub into Harold's Haunt.
