Harpers treatment journey
Donation protected
A few weeks ago, the Harrison family had their lives turned upside down when their sixteen-month-old daughter Harper had a minor fall. After several diagnoses, four blood transfusions, eight scans, internal bleeding for several days and three hospitals by helicopter, the doctors discovered a 7x8x8cm tumour. She had surgery to remove the tumour, which resulted in her losing one of her ovaries and fallopian tube. They thought it was over until they had received the results from the pathology that their little girl had a Sex Cord Stromal Cancer. Only 50 people under 18 worldwide have ever been reported to have this cancer. After consulting international experts in this type of tumour, Harper's paediatric oncologist has advised the family that Harper must undergo four rounds of chemotherapy to prevent escaped cancer cells from creating more tumours. So now Jacob and Julia will need to leave their older two children Noah and Aria, with their grandparents for one month as they leave Coffs Harbour to take Harper to John Hunter Hospital to start chemotherapy. These treatments will take place over the next six months, so there will be a lot of travelling back and forth between Coffs Harbour and Newcastle. Any help would be greatly appreciated to help this beautiful family with all the expenses that might arise along this challenging journey.
