Harriet & Liz - Running for Mummy's Angels

Harriet and her mum Liz are running the Victoria Falls Half Marathon in Zimbabwe on 7th July 2024 to raise funds for a Maun based organisation called Mummy’s Angels. Harriet has lived in Maun, Botswana for ten years and Liz and their family have visited regularly. Botswana is a very special country and close to their hearts.

Mummy’s Angels was set up in 2017 to provide mothers in need with a one-off donation of newborn essentials including baby hats, clothing, blankets, toiletries, nappies, sanitary pads and food vouchers. A separate branch of Mummy’s Angels operates in Zimbabwe, hence the charity is the perfect choice given the event location of the half marathon in Victoria Falls. Mummy’s Angels has its own bank account in Botswana and they aim to divide the raised funds between both the Botswana and Zimbabwe branch according to their needs. Although it has a limited website presence, Harriet has personal contact with this organisation and knows the people who run it. Liz, who worked as a midwife in the NHS and with NGO’s in Africa, knows that small local organisations are often well equipped to respond quickly to urgent needs. We intend to collect any money raised into Liz’s UK bank account and then transfer the total.
