Harriet's half-marathon for her brother
Just over a year ago, my beloved brother and best friend Tim died very suddenly aged 37. He was a Major in the Royal Marines, supremely fit, and had the biggest heart of anyone I know. Yet somehow his heart failed him, and he died of undiagnosed Dilated Cardiomyopathy, leaving us with the biggest loss imaginable.
Tim and I and his wife Meda were supposed to be running the Coniston 14 race together as soon as the pandemic finished. Meda and I are going to finish the plan together.
The race is on October 9, which we're going to also do with Tim's and my good friend Tom. It's just over a half-marathon, extremely hilly, and while I know Tim probably would have won it, I'll settle for finishing. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation.
