Baby Harrison Kicking Cancer’s Butt!!

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

My name is Sara Falzone and it is with the heaviest heart that I start this donation page for my sister, brother in-law and nephew, Jac, Dave and baby Harrison Worth. Harrison, a six month old tiny, angel baby, was recently diagnosed with a very large (5cm) cancerous tumor.

As the journey of his diagnosis and treatment begins, I am reminded of the hardships my sister has faced as a mother. Her first daughter, Alannah Marie, passed at only 7 months old of SIDs in 2008. After years of waiting, she had her second daughter, Merida Fey, and this sassy thing brought back the love and sunshine into my sister’s sweet heart. But in 2018, Jac would experience another great loss, an unexplained still birth late in pregnancy, Jacob. Despite these tragedies, Jac and her family have stayed positive and their hearts were filled again in July 2022 when Harrison entered the world.

While many experience losses like these, it feels cruel and unfair that my sister and her family should be served yet another earth shattering piece of news. Though Baby Harrison’s diagnosis has been hard, Jac and Dave have taken it in stride, immediately taking every step necessary to treat and care for their sweet boy.

I want to ensure they have absolutely no financial worries so they can focus on Harrison’s recovery. Since moving back to Virginia in 2022, Jac has taken on the role of the primary working parent while Dave, currently a super-dad staying at home with Harrison, attends college. Neither of them would ever ask for a dime from anyone, especially knowing how financially hard it is these days. So I will! Anything you can spare would be a true blessing to their family to reduce the financial burden of Baby Harrison’s treatment. The donation goal would cover their out of pocket medical expenses.

Harrison’s Journey Timeline

February 14th: Harrison saw his pediatrician for a simple swollen eye. They noticed one pupil was smaller than the other so they referred him to an optometrist at VCU.

February 16th: He was seen by the optometrist. The doctor was concerned with a nerve being compressed in the head and sent him for an MRI. They took 2 x-rays and a shadow was found, which prompted a CT scan. The scan showed a large (5cm) mass in his chest. The mass is so large is has pushed and diverted his airway to the right side of his chest cavity.

February 17th: After meeting over 20 doctors and nurses the multiple teams helping with Harri's care we were successfully able to get a chunk of the tumor via a biopsy.

February 20th: Harri has officially been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. His cancer is considered stage 4 and intermediate risk. Though, after more scans and tests there are 2 other places the cancer is in his body.

The preliminary plan is to start chemo and shrink the larger tumor as much as possible. His treatments are 4 days of chemo and 17 days to rest. There will be 4-8 rounds of the 21 day cycles. After round 4 we will reaccess the tumor size and see about removal.

February 21st: Baby boy had a pic line inserted and will receive his first chemo treatment.

We are now trying to patiently wait to see how Harrison and his tumor respond to treatments.
