Harrison’s Hospital Stay
Donation protected
Hi everyone. My name is Dakota Martin and I am creating this page on behalf of myself and my family. Nobody likes to have to ask for help, but unfortunately we are left with no other option at this point.
I live in Blaine with my sons Harrison, Simon, and their mother Kaylee. Harrison is 5 years old and has had stomach issues his entire life. Lately, these issues have gotten so bad that he needed to be hospitalized for a procedure to clear out his digestive tract. Due to the excessive blockage that occurred, this procedure took much longer than we anticipated and due to Harrison’s autism and sensory disorders, he needed to be fully sedated the entire time. We spent three nights in the ICU with him under sedation, and a 4th night while he is weaned off of the sedative.
Unfortunately, Harrison has had some rare and concerning reactions to coming off of the sedatives. As I write this, we are preparing to spend a fifth night in the hospital, and we’re not sure when we will be able to go home.
Thankfully, we had help from family members taking care of Harrison’s brother Simon over the weekend, but on the weekdays, we have no child care for him. Kaylee and I both work full time and we’ve each had to miss several shifts already, and will continue to miss more as we are split between the hospital and caring for our younger son. Additionally, there will be several follow-up appointments with specialists for Harrison in the future.
We are reaching out and asking for help in order to ensure we can pay our bills, pay our rent, buy food and gas for the month of November while we take care of our challenging and unexpected situation.
We greatly appreciate all who donate even a small amount, as anything will help. Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
